How To Play Guitar – Beginner – How To Have Fun and Learn Guitar At The Same Time
Do you sometimes get frustrated when learning how to play guitar? There are some simple ways that you can achieve your personal goals of practicing while at the same time being able to have fun learning guitar.
For some players, it can be very easy to get discouraged when learning how to play the guitar. One of the ways that you can continue to practice guitar without getting discouraged is to make sure that you allow yourself adequate time after you practice to have some fun time with your instrument.
By consistently practicing and allowing yourself the opportunity to have some fun time after you practice; you will allow yourself to continue to grow on the guitar equally. For example, one way you can accomplish practice time with fun time is to practice for a half hour in three module units. After you’ve practiced your three module units you would then allow yourself an equal half hour of just playing whatever you want on the guitar.
One thing to keep in mind when having fun on the guitar is to always be aware of how and what you are playing. Make sure that whatever you’re playing, i.e. Your favourite song, that you are not just jamming without thinking. Be aware of what you are playing, and this way you can allow yourself to have fun while at the same time allowing yourself to be able to get technically proficient.
When learning and playing the guitar for fun, here are 3 simple ideas that you can try out as you improve your playing while having fun.
1. Chords: As you continue to improve and learn chord’s on your guitar, you can play all the different chords that you’ve learnt and play them together. This can be done by either learning a new song or by writing your own song. As you place different chord progressions together, you will in time improve your chord switching ability making you a faster chord player. Try out different chord progressions and see how they sound when played together. You might just find a chord progression that sounds really good when played together.
2. Scales: Once you’ve learned how to play some guitar scales the next step is to have fun playing them as fast as you can. You can also have fun playing your new scales with one of your favourite songs and practice what I call improvisation. Improvisation is where you play guitar and create your own ideas while music is playing in the background. This can be done with your favourite song or your own created background music. Whatever music is playing in the background, take your guitar scale and improvise with the music. When starting out improvising scales on the guitar, don’t worry about how well it sounds at the beginning stages. Remember, you’re improvising for fun right now, and not worrying about perfection, or how the scales sound with the music.
3. Song writing: One of the exciting things that you can do when playing the guitar is to take all of the various items that you’re practicing and put them together into a newly created original song. The easiest way to start off doing this is to take a chord progression and the scale that you’ve been practicing and put the two together. If you are able to make live recordings, make sure that you record what you are playing so that if you come out with a really great idea you can continue on having fun with your chord progressions and scales after your next practice session.
