Everything You Have to Know About Sterling Rings
Here is a quick lesson before I am going into the details of sterling rings. Sterling silver is composed of 92.5% pure silver and 7.5% other metals. The most frequently mixed metals is copper, but zinc, platinum and germanium can be tossed in for different effect.
So does this make sterling rings not so good as pure silver rings? Heck no!
O.K , perhaps a solid beating is a touch too much, but I sure as hell do not want my silver marriage ring to get all nicked and scratched simply because I stuck my hand in my pocket and dug around for loose change.
Silver in its purest form is best left for investment items like coins and bullion because it is so easily scratched and damaged, but even these coins are at least 0.001% non-silver. Simply coming into contact with steel or aluminum will permanently scar any pure-silver jewellery you are wearing now.
Sterling silver, on the moment.
Sterling silver, on the other hand, is a lot more robust than its purer opposite number. The mixed in metals lend their buttressing qualities to the silver, helping keep it nice and helps keep it nice and strong.
So trust me when I say wearing a sterling ring is a better concept than wearing a pure silver one. You definitely don’t want to put down one hundred dollars on something that is about as troublesome as a chunk of butter.
